What’s it about?
You are sitting on the grass, staring at a lake and listening to the sound of silence mixed with the twittering of animate beings, while a soft wind tingles your senses. That is the experience Eco Park offers, along with many more.
It is relatively new in the city and is an amazing place to spend your time. With friends or family or a special someone or all by yourself, regardless of the company or the lack of it, there is always something to do. From the time you enter from the first gate, right up till the point your feet give up, you will witness a harmonious mixture of hustle-bustle and serenity. The idea may seem impossible, but Eco Park makes it possible.
What to do?
Preferences vary, but the park does its best to provide a little something for everybody’s taste.
The most prominent feature of the park is the lake. The air at Eco Park is charged with the scent of fresh water and the lake literally draws people to it. It is not just present for visual pleasure but is also host to a variety of water related activities such as boating (Rs. 50 for 30mins), kayaking (Rs. 150 for 30mins), speed-boat rides, shikara rides and water zorbing (Rs. 150-200 for 15mins). As I said, there is something for everybody, from the ones who prefer the mellowness of relaxation to those who enjoy the rush of adrenaline and everyone else in between.
With long winding paths near the lake to walk on and elaborately constructed green landscapes, Eco Park is one of the most aesthetically pleasurable spots in the city. There are seemingly un-ending patches of green land where you can stroll or run like crazy. The meandering paths that take you all over the area and back can also be used for cycling. There are cycles for hire at Eco Park (Rs. 150 for 30mins), the most popular ones being the double cycles.
What to see?
You can also check out the brilliant structures created by the developers. There is a Bamboo Garden with some brilliant construction and a large Butterfly Museum. The museum is a must-go destination for children, along with the Children’s Park. The dancing fountain is a treat for the young and old alike. Strategically created seating arrangements provide you with some spectacular views and photos. So, do sit down when a seat calls out to you.
