What’s it about?
It’s a spot where you can chill like the pirates do when they are not busy killing for gold and holding onto ropes for dear life. The Pirate’s Deck is a pirate themed cafe which provides you with the one thing those men at sea don’t have, comfort. And, also, Darts.
Wooden walls of a ship covered with maps, ships and pirate skulls. Varied seating arrangements like seats carved out of wood, large low wooden seats, high sofas of the XXL size and wooden barrels with treasure chests. Everything about this place is a salute to the pirate’s way of life.
However, it is not the hard way of life. With an enormous T.V. screen for sport screenings or music videos, an extremely considerate staff and a wide-ranging menu, The Pirate’s Deck is a luxurious representation of life on deck.
But, The Pirate’s Deck did not start of as a tribute to all things pirate-y. It is owned by a group of Dart players whose passion for the game has translated into their desire to bring the game closer to everybody else. These Pirates have enjoyed their treasure for a long time and now, they wish to show it to the world. How? Well, one of the owners of the joint, Vivek Khandelwal, has stated their plans of starting a Darting Competition in the days to come. It will be open to all and give equal opportunities to the beginners and the seasoned.
What to eat?
The recipes are based on those by Garima Poddar, the winner of the IIHM Young Chef India Schools 2014 contest. If you are being fed by the winner of a competition such as this, you will not be disappointed. Vivek Khandelwal talked about the delectable Chinese cuisine served by the joint and recommended the Chilli Garlic noodles, Red-fried Potatoes and a Mexican dish – Mexican Rice and Jacket Potatoes, based on what the customers loved most.
What to do?
Eat, drink, have hookah and enjoy your company. But, if you are up for a little bit more than your usual adda session, then you should try your hand at darts. They have dedicated a small area to this game and, you never know, you might just end up sharing the passion and skill level of the people who dreamt up this place. Also, The Pirate’s Deck is a selfie-lover’s paradise. You will soon see why.
What to see?
The pirate themed decorative items are commendable. There are pirate pistols with which you can request to click photos. The walls, the pirate skulls, the wheel of a ship, barrels, treasure chests, Jack Sparrow cushions – you will never get tired of looking around and you will never have enough photos. Also, the gargantuan television will play something or the other which will hold your interest. While I was present, I enjoyed a large dose of MTV Coke Studio.
