Those of us who are fans of Mr. Robot have naturally been waiting for the premiere of season 2 on July 13th. But USA, the U.S. television network, did not intend to let the fans be content with the normal levels of eagerness involved in waiting. With no prior announcements, the first part of the first episode of the new season was “leaked” on social media. And it was done in the manner of a “hack”, giving the fans a very real encounter with fsociety.
A Facebook Live Q&A session with key cast members was interrupted with a message –
And then the streaming began. The series creators released tweets, informing those online about the time when the episode will be streamed on which social network sending people on a time-bound virtual treasure hunt to catch the episode before it was deleted.

This is a PR stunt, there is no doubt about that. But, wow! You have to give it up to USA; if a hype has to be generated about a TV series based on a hacktivist with an anti-social personality, letting it out on the corporates, then this was the way to go – hack and leak on social media. Free information for everyone is after all one of the main beliefs of the show.
Obviously, it hurts those who did not get to watch. This twitter user echoes most of our thoughts –
And so will we.
