He is wacky, mad and religious and believes that compositions are created by the power of the Almighty working through you, otherwise why would most of his compositions come to him while sleeping at night?
A man who can create songs like Emotional Atyachar and Iktara at the same time can truly be called the ‘Baap of different genres’. Amit Trivedi can be regarded as the Jaadugar of new Bollywood music. Who said you always need a formal training to be successful? Amit Trivedi has no training; he only has a passion for music and experimentation. He believes that being a non-trained musician allows him to dabble in all kinds of musical influences. He is exposed and aware of every school of music and is, therefore, not restricted to any particular genre.
Amit started his musical career at the age of 19. In his college days he joined a band called OM that ultimately launched an album with Times Music. The album was not successful, but that didn’t stop Amit from pursuing his dream career. After years of determination and perseverance, Amit was finally able to grab success with Dev.D. Dev.D was a major turning point for him, earning him accolades, fame and a National Film Award for Best Music Direction. From that point on he started showing his magic and till date he has his listeners spellbound.
Apart from being a composer, Amit is also known for his distinct, edgy and rustic voice. He loves to use different instruments and often follows a vast range of orchestrated music. The best part is that whatever he creates always has deep Indian roots with a dash of fusion, and that makes each of his creations a masterpiece. For music lovers, like myself, who love to listen to various musical experiments, Trivedi’s compositions, as well as his earthy voice, are truly a treat.
