Here we have Rahaas talking about their music.
BongRong: What you guys do on stage is nothing like we have ever seen in Kolkata before. How did you start off?
Rahaas: The idea originated basically from a discussion in a coffee shop. The idea is to tell one story throughout the whole performance, which will be depicted through all the art forms individually. All of our shows have some underlining theme, i.e all of the musical pieces played out or the paintings drawn or the performances are interlinked. Ideally what we do is incorporate the dance and music together to showcase each story while the visual arts department stresses on the larger storyline.
BongRong: So, any surprises in store for us at International Music Day this year?
Rahaas: Due to unavoidable circumstances, we won’t be able to showcase the dance performances in this year’s Fête de la Musique. However, we are making sure to stick to our ethos as our sets performed in the different venues would be completely different and we will make sure that the people coming from one venue to another can relate to the change in theme. We are also planning on a grand conclusion which is a surprise. For now, the biggest hint is that every piece of the puzzle is interlinked, so you better observe our performances closely as at the end we think we’ll be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
BongRong: We will be eagerly waiting for the surprise at Someplace Else and INOX City Center tomorrow.
