If you are a part of any non-political movement, be very afraid! In a few months, your government might start spraying Pepper to force you and your friends to quit!
Is this for real?
Those in power never like to be challenged by the common people. They don’t mind the challenge of an opposing political entity because it’s a game that they have to play all their life. It’s a known turf. They are good at politics and they know how to play.
But a mass movement without a political agenda is one threat that is very difficult to handle. It’s a situation that can be controlled by doing the right thing, and in politics, doing the right thing is the most difficult task of all. Have you ever wondered how far a government can go to control your spontaneous rebellion against an existing system?
The news that you should look into!
Akhilesh Jadav’s (son of Mulayalam Singh Jadav) government in U.P. gave permission to the Lucknow police to use drones in crowd control and they are so pleased with the result that 30 lakh rupees were spent to buy 5 drones for future use. With a capacity to carry two kilograms and the ability to fly around a one kilometer radius, drones can inflict a lot of pain to any gathering and disperse the crowd in seconds. Should we be afraid?
In today’s world of 24*7 media coverage, an incident in a far corner of our state can ignite a fire with the capacity of wiping out an entire government. We have seen the impact of Singur-Nandigram in our state politics. The democracy changed the government in our state with a hope that the new one will provide infrastructure for growth and protect it’s citizens. Has anything really changed? That’s a question you better ask yourself and answer through the voting machine. But, there is no doubt that non-political unrests like Kamduni, Barasat, Hok Kolorob etc are happening constantly in and around Kolkata. What gives us the guarantee that our state government won’t use drones and pepper spray in the future?
What can we do?
In a democratic society, peaceful demonstration against the current establishment is the only selfless and astute form of rebellion. Every single soul that believes in human freedom and democratic right should prepare themselves for a fight if this nightmare does become a reality in our state. For now, if Lucknow fights back, we, the people of Kolkata should do everything in our power to help. If they don’t, then we can use social media to create a nation-wide mass movement. If we are forced into this situation and our government doesn’t listen to us, what can we do then? That’s an answer you will have to find out on your own. We started thinking, have you?
